Dad – I hope you know that I am so very thankful for you! And, in writing this, I realize I don’t tell you this often enough. For that, I am sorry!
When I was younger, you always pushed us to strive for our best. Good wasn’t good enough – not if we could do better. And, while I didn’t appreciate it then, I can see how much that has benefited me as an adult – and how much it is appreciated.
I am also so very thankful that you allowed me to watch you build & fix things. Whether it was fixing a running toilet or putting together furniture, you always allowed me to be there, to help you and to learn. That has be so very helpful throughout my life (even tonight as we finished putting Sarah’s bedroom set together). Now, if you would just teach me how to fix a doorbell (don’t worry – it still works :))!
You taught me how to stand up for myself and not let others bring me down. You taught me to be confident and courageous – especially during the times when it can be a little scary.
You taught me the importance of working hard and not just doing the job, but doing it right. Why do it at all if someone is going to need to do it over???
And, both you & Mom taught me that, no matter what – you always love us, you are always proud of us, and we always have a place at home.
Dad, I hope you know how very thankful I am to have you as a dad! I love you very much!
